A Maltipoo is a crossbreed, or “designer dog,” that combines a Maltese with a Toy or Miniature Poodle. It’s also called a Maltepoo or Moodle.

• Size: Usually 5 to 20 pounds and 8 to 14 inches tall, depending mostly on the Poodle parent’s size.
• Coat: Soft and wavy or curly, and low-shedding. Colors include white, cream, apricot, silver, and chocolate.
• Temperament: Affectionate, playful, and people-oriented. They bond closely with their families and tend not to do well when left alone for long stretches.
• Lifespan: Typically 10 to 15 years.
• Best suited to: Apartments, first-time owners, and families with older children.
• Care: Regular brushing and professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks.

Because it’s a mixed breed rather than a recognized breed with a standard, size, coat, and temperament vary from dog to dog, even within one litter. Health issues to watch for include dental problems, patellar luxation, and tear staining.
